OPEN POSITION SUMMARY

Chief Scientific Officer or Vice President, Discovery Research

Overview of the Role:
We seek an experienced scientist with expertise in PD biomarker analysis to develop and execute strategies for personalized treatment with immune-oncology drugs and drug combinations.  Substantial expertise in immunology and in biomarker development is highly desirable.  The ideal candidate has developed PD monitoring or biomarker methods in the lab or with collaborating labs or CROs and has supported clinical studies in oncology or immuno-oncology.  The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, can effectively work in multifunctional teams, will publish in high quality scientific, technical or medical journals and present at internal and external meetings. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the PD assessment and biomarker strategies for the clinical programs.

  • Translate drug- and target-specific features into innovative methods to predict and measure treatment response and resistance.

  • Champion the evaluation of novel scientific discoveries into opportunities for biomarker development.

  • Establish methods in the lab, in collaborating labs and/or with CROs to support the clinical programs. 

  • Regular publication of scientific and methodological results is expected.

Experience:

  • A PhD, MD or PhD/MD degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g. oncology, cancer biology, immunology).

  • Expert understanding of immunology relevant to immune-oncology treatment strategies, treatment response and resistance mechanisms.

  • Ability to work with large multi-omic data sets and familiar with techniques for exploring associations of biomarkers with clinical outcomes.

  • Computational skills with statistical software packages such as R are preferred, but not required.

  • Track record of scientific impact as evidenced by first or senior-authored publications.

  •  Ability to verbalize and present key messages from complicated datasets in a concise and clear manner.
